Pon My Puff by Peter Stark Lansley Featured on On the Wight

I’m delighted to share that my Father's book Pon My Puff was recently featured on On the Wight under the headline Pon My Puff: Rediscovering Peter Stark Lansley’s Childhood Memoir of the Isle of Wight.

This autobiographical novel offers a heartfelt account of a child’s upbringing by his grandparents in the 1920s, while also capturing the lives of the villagers who shaped the Isle of Wight community. Through my research into my late father Peter Lansley’s manuscript, many of the characters have been identified, along with their homes, memorials, and places of interest. Readers will meet the local milkman, butcher, shoemaker, and even Peter’s nursery teacher, while also experiencing his grandfather’s love that shaped his early understanding of God and the afterlife.

The book brings the 1920s vividly to life. From Stir Up Sunday and festive traditions to charming misadventures with his childhood sweetheart, Victoria, the stories reveal what village life was like in an era of steam trains, oil lamps, and simple joys.

Pon My Puff is both a moving memoir and a window into rural history, perfect for anyone who cherishes stories of childhood innocence or enjoys discovering the details of social life in a time gone by.
