I am truly pleased to see Pon My Puff receiving
such kind words in a review on the Gina Rae Mitchell website. It means a great
deal to know that my story has been described as heartwarming and reflective of
a time long past. Seeing readers connect with these memories is incredibly
special.
Pon My Puff is a personal
account of my childhood in the 1920s, growing up on the Isle of Wight under the
care of my grandparents. Through the story, I wanted to capture the spirit of
village life and the people who shaped those early years. From holiday
celebrations and simple games to everyday routines, I tried to bring together
humour, warmth, and honesty. Beneath these moments, the story also reflects on
family, faith, and a sense of belonging.
My life took many turns beyond those early years, from
studying radio engineering to serving as a radio officer in the Merchant Navy
during the war, where I survived a torpedo attack. Later, I continued working
in the field before eventually returning to the Isle of Wight. Yet it is those
childhood memories that have stayed closest to my heart, and I am grateful to
share them with readers today.
